The Capital Region progressive dialogue was hosted by the Hudson Valley Community College on its Troy campus with co-hosts from the New York State Board of Regents. Over 40 stakeholders participated, representing diverse communities across the Capital region. Following introductory remarks by Dr. Drew Matonak, President, Hudson Valley Community College, insights were shared about recommendations that have emerged from preceding dialogues; the Ohio STEM Learning Network model; and key points from a Regional Talent Pipeline Study prepared for the four Greater Capital Region Workforce Investment Boards. Participants developed recommendations in small groups and shared their top ideas in plenary session. Each group’s recommendation and four summary statements were interactively assessed with e-Instruction devices. Regent Joseph Bowman shared insights from the Regents’ perspective to conclude the meeting.
Ethnographic observation of the small group and plenary sessions was led by the PAST Foundation with support of local undergraduate and graduate students. The PAST ethnographic bullet point report is incorporated in the regional document report available to the right.
